ARRIVAL REACTION: he's surprisingly calm despite waking up with a lack of power, though his hand never leaves the hilt of a sword radiating a rather malicious intent. its clear he doesn't trust anything about this, scrutinizing every aspect of the registration process, taking in everything, asking the woman who greets him what they're doing and why.really, he's being quite annoying to everyone working today.he gives no incriminating information - getting a name out of him is difficult enough - and despite his difficulties, he cooperates for his own benefit. he wants out of here and quickly. whatever it is that can suppress his power like so makes him deeply uncomfortable, though he hides it behind his confident stride out into the city.

biography.
TWS: CHILD ABUSE/NEGLECT/ABANDONMENT, BULLYING, SUICIDE/SUICIDAL IDEATION, WAR, PLAGUE/INFECTIOUS DISEASE, IMMOLATION, EYE TRAUMA/GORE, SELF HARM, MENTAL DISTRESS, IMPRISONMENT.life as a human was miserable. constantly abused and mistreated by his family, peers, and people on the streets, he'd found there was no reason to continue living in a world that didn't want him and intended to jump from a high balcony in the middle of a sacred parade, cursing the kingdom of xianle with his death. but instead, he was saved by the crown prince, whos performance had captivated him. and when the crown prince ascended, the temples dedicated to him became his only sanctuary. when he had nothing else to live for and desperately sought a purpose in life, the prince become god had descended to the mortal realm to tell the child that if he had nothing else to live for, to at least live for him.he took those words to heart. when the kingdom of xianle fell into civil war, he joined their army as soon as he was able. though he was just a poor teenager at the time, he trained and worked hard to earn the crown prince's attention, at one point even protecting the crown prince in a moment of vulnerability. despite this, and despite his talents being recognized, he was kicked out of the army by one of the crown prince's retainers and generals. in the end, he had died fighting a losing war. the kingdom of xianle fell, not just to war but to the spread of a mysterious infectious disease, and their god had taken the brunt of the blame, being branded a plague god, and was banished from the heavens.
life as a ghost was different, and much, much worse. he'd started as a simple ghost fire, swearing to protect the god he cared for. but unable to develop a physical form, he failed to save him from crazed villagers who saw him as a sacrifice - a cure for the same deadly disease that swept through xianle - forced to witness such cruelty, he burned everything to the ground in his rage and sorrow - those people and his god included. he failed to keep his god from falling to his own devices, so he took on the thousands of cursed souls housed within the prince's sword into himself, dying for him in the process. the only thing he could do now was become something so formidable nothing could stop him and he couldn't fail.mt. tonglu opened, and there he reformed as a barely put together wrath level spirit. protecting a group of humans trapped within the mountain and without a weapon, he tore out his right eye to forge it into a deadly scimitar capable of tearing through the ghosts and ghouls who also fought for their place. in doing so, he was given the chance to ascend to the heavens, but instead chose to delve deep into the mountain's kiln, where ghosts and other demons lie. in the ten years he spent within the kiln, he sacrificed his eye, went mad in isolation, and came out of it a devastation level ghost, the highest power he could achieve.with the power of a ghost king, hua cheng set out to enact vengeance on those who've wronged the one person to ever give him hope in a world that didn't want him, and he never gave up that hope in finding him again.
personality.
hua cheng is an abrasive individual who doesn't sacrifice his morals for anyone's comfort. on the surface, and to many who know him only through reputation alone, he seems like a terrifyingly evil and ruthless individual. capable of slaughter and destruction, merciless and cruel to those who get in his way. in truth, he is simply a man who holds a grudge. he never forget the things people have done to him and the person he cares for, for better or worse. his picture perfect memory makes his ability to hold a grudge all the worse.in reality, hua cheng is simply sincere. perhaps the most sincere person in the heavens and on earth. his honesty makes him seem rude, like he's always trying to pick a fight, and like a bit of a troublemaker. but he finds others lack of honesty amusing. he doesn't take much seriously when it comes to himself or others. he's overly confident and has earned the right to be, but he also knows when to be cunning and enough of a trickster to play his cards right when the situation calls for it.
weaknesses & flaws.
INSECURE. For all his confidence in his abilities, Hua Cheng's insecurities from his time as a human and his various failures as a ghost have never left him. He truly believes himself hideous, monstrous, and therefore undeserving of the attention he desires from his beloved. This extends to his own emotions, often finding his own desires and wants embarrassing and feeling a need to suppress and hide them, almost shaming himself for even having them.
UNCARING. Despite that, he doesn't care about what anyone who isn't said beloved thinks. He isn't needlessly cruel, but not much else matters to him but one person. Therefore, his indifference is obvious in the face of others.
VENGEFUL. He holds deep grudges, and never forgives anyone who's wronged him or the person he cares for most. He can get deeply petty and will stoop low, becoming cruel and sometimes even losing control of himself in his emotions when faced with people who he holds grudges on.

BLOOD RAIN —
seemingly harmless in both appearance and function and nothing more than a display of power, hua cheng can make it rain blood. it's not actual blood (sometimes) but just water that takes on a red appearance.
ELEMENTAL CONTROL —
the ability to control the elements of wind, earth, fire, water, and so on. can be used in a variety of devastating and powerful ways, to simplistic and practical ways.
DARUMA DOLL TRANSFORMATION —
the ability to turn someone into a small daruma doll version of themselves. they can roll around and shake, but cannot move or talk otherwise.
WRAITH BUTTERFLIES —
hua cheng can summon a swarm of crystalline butterflies to do a variety of things: turning into them to get away, putting up walls of them as shields, using them as devastating attacks, using them and their spiritual energy to heal, using their butterfly silk in various ways, using them as a means of recording voices and scouting area or spying on targets, and communicating through them.
SPIRITUAL POWER —
the control of ones spiritual power, an innate presence of power within all spiritual beings. this includes many, many capabilities, some of which can be found here. notable for hua cheng specifically are:
reopening wounds: when hit with an attack from e-ming, if he or its poison doesn't kill, hua cheng can, from any distance and at any time, reopen any wound he's inflicted on a person to cause them pain, suffering, and even death.
petrification: freezes one in place with a touch. can also pinpoint specific senses, like ones voice.
levitation: moves objects without the need to touch them but instead infuses spiritual power into an object to move it.
TRANSFORMATION —
the ability to change his appearance in any way he wants. completely foolproof against any and all manners of seeing through transformation and illusions. undetectable and flawless in just about every way.

being a supreme level ghost, hua cheng is essentially undead and immortal. without his ashes, he cannot be killed and will simply be able to reform himself.
being at this level of power means hua cheng doesn't need to eat or sleep, and possesses superhuman strength and durability, and immense spiritual power. LUCK —
he has an insane amount of luck, guaranteed to win any gamble or game of chance. this is something he can transfer to others with spiritual power, but isn't likely to.
